Eating at Venice Beach began it all.
We were so excited to get away for the weekend. Mixing business and pleasure is something we do a lot of. I have to travel a lot for classes and shows. We had to travel to Long Beach this time and Hubby has always wanted to go to the boardwalk that featured in Red Foo’s video I’m Sexy and I Know it, which is Venice Beach Boardwalk in Los Angeles.
Turning on the good old GPS to Venice Beach and off we went. Being our first time it was confusing to find parking and where the “Boardwalk began”. Hubby found a parking area which ended up being right around the corner from an entrance to the boardwalk. We went straight to the beach area. It was gorgeous day for walking around but finding a place to eat was harder then you would think.
When we are near the coast, seafood is a must. Since we went in the morning most places were barely opening up. But by lunch time we were searching for a place to eat. There were hot dogs, sandwiches, ice cream, candy shops and a few restaurants. Picking one was gonna be a task.

Around the corner from were we parked were a few restaurants.
We chose Surfside Venice Beach. They are open seven days a week. Serve Brunch, Lunch and Dinner. They have a happy hour and live music 5 days a week. After looking at their menu that is placed on the outside of their restaurant we went in.
The people working were so friendly, we got seated right away and the place so very clean! Their decor is very charming. I loved their flooring in the hallway so I had to take a picture (I got permission).

The food came fast, I loved the baskets. Their batter has a great flavor and wasn’t soggy from being deep fried. They had the most amazing sauce that came with the Crispy Calamari. Hubby loves a light beer and was suggested to try the 310 Blonde ale. Hubby gave it two thumbs up.

We both ended up getting the Fish & Chips. I have to say it was so good but I couldn’t finish it all (because I wanted ice cream from a shop I saw while we walked around earlier).

I love how they give out a chilled bottle of water so you can refill as needed.
Once we left here, we headed for the ice cream shop
I opted for Ben & Jerry’s and picked two scoops, one each of Chocolate Therapy and Chocolate Brownie. Hubby don’t have a sweet tooth for ice cream so it was just me that got some.

Other things you can do there.
There is more to do than just walk around, there are placed where you can rent a bike, also skate board, there is even a weight around to workout in. We walked around an looked at the shops that were open, and all the vendors that bring their home made items to sell. Some of these people are really talented. The beach was so beautiful, the water was warm. We had a great time. Too bad we had to head home early, I can just image how much there is to see at night.
