I finally get to review one of my all-time favorite places, Togo’s.
This one has a little history behind it for me. Togo’s got its start in San Jose in 1971. I’m from San Jose, and Jen and I lived there before moving to Fresno, so Togo’s is one of those places that reminds me of home.
It started as a small sandwich shop near San Jose State University and grew into the chain it is today.
One of the things I’ve always loved about Togo’s is how much meat they put into their sandwiches. They weigh the meat instead of just eyeballing it and filling the rest of the sandwich with toppings.
When they’re done, your sandwich is bulging with greatness.
That’s how a sandwich should be.

We both ordered combo meals with chips and a drink.
I went with my usual, the #9 Hot Pastrami.
There’s a reason I keep coming back to this one. It’s packed with pastrami and exactly what I want when I’m craving a sandwich.
For my chips, I went with Cheetos.
Wife Went With Turkey & Avocado
Jen ordered a regular Turkey & Avocado on honey oat bread and decided to try the Sea Salt & Vinegar chips.
Her sandwich was packed so full that some of the avocado fell out while she was eating it.
That actually worked out pretty well.
She used the extra avocado as a dip for her chips.
No reason to let perfectly good avocado go to waste.
Don't Forget the Soup
Togo’s isn’t just about the sandwiches. They also serve soup, and I’m a fan of the broccoli cheddar.
Hmm hmm good.
When I’m looking for a good sandwich, Togo’s is already one of my favorites, and this visit didn’t change that. Plenty of meat, plenty of choices and a sandwich that actually fills you up.
And if you still have room after your sandwich, you don’t even have to go anywhere for dessert. This Togo’s shares the shop with Baskin-Robbins, so you can finish lunch with ice cream.
Sandwiches and ice cream in the same place? Not a bad combination.

Mike is one half of Couples Dining Out. He’s all about seafood, Chinese food, and BBQ, although ribs don’t make the cut very often because his goatee usually pays the price. Give him a cold blonde beer to wash it all down and he’s happy. And dessert? Unless there’s pie involved, he’ll probably pass.
