Sometimes deciding where to eat comes down to one thing.
A coin flip.
I’d heard about Pizza Factory through Google, and we were trying to decide between it and another pizzeria. Instead of debating about it all night, we flipped a coin.
Pizza Factory won.
So off we went to see if the coin made the right choice.
REVIEW AT A GLANCE
Location: California
City: Fresno
Craving: Pizza
A Quiet Night for Pizza
When we walked in, there wasn’t a line, so we were able to order right away. It was also a sit-where-you-like kind of place, which we liked.
There was only one other couple eating while we were there.
That actually ended up being one of the best parts of the evening. We could sit back, relax and enjoy dinner together without feeling rushed.
Half Thunderbird, Half BBQ Chicken
We decided to split a pizza and get two different kinds.
One half was the Thunderbird, their combination pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms, bell peppers, ham, onions and sausage.
I thought the toppings were a little on the thin side. They were diced pretty small, so there didn’t seem to be much of them on each bite.
The other half was BBQ Chicken, made with BBQ sauce, chicken and cheese.
This side had the opposite problem.
The pieces of chicken were nice and chunky, but they were so big that they kept falling off when we tried to bite into the pizza.
Beer for Me, No Milk for Wife
I ordered a beer, although they were out of some of the brands they normally carried. Luckily, I was still able to get a Coors Light.
Wife likes drinking milk with her pizza.
Don’t ask me why.
The problem is that most pizzerias don’t sell milk.
Go figure.
So there was beer for me and, once again, no pizza-and-milk combination for Jen.
Did the Coin Make the Right Choice?
Overall, Pizza Factory was okay.
The pizza wasn’t bad, but there wasn’t anything about it that made us want to drive across town specifically to have it again.
What we did enjoy was the atmosphere that evening. With only one other couple there, we were able to relax, take our time and enjoy being out together.
Would we go back?
Probably not, especially with it being across town from where we live. But it wasn’t a bad experience either.
Sometimes a restaurant lands right in the middle and for us, Pizza Factory was one of those places.

Mike
Mike is one half of Couples Dining Out. He’s all about seafood, Chinese food, and BBQ, although ribs don’t make the cut very often because his goatee usually pays the price. Give him a cold blonde beer to wash it all down and he’s happy. And dessert? Unless there’s pie involved, he’ll probably pass.
