Voodoo Doughnut

We took a walk down Universal City Walk and noticed a huge Voodoo Doll and had to go check it out. Turns out it’s a doughnut shop!

We eat doughnuts very rarely BUT when we saw this place I had to get some. We came back the morning that we were heading home so I could bring the dozen to my girls at home and the salon.

I choose the assortment box that came with 5 normal doughnuts and 7 crazy ones and bought the Voodoo doughnut on the side. It is a doughnut filled with raspberry jelly topped with chocolate frosting and a pretzel stake.

I ate the voodoo doughnut right then and we started on our way home with the rest.

By the time we got home some of the tops melted and since the doughnuts are just placed in a box that doesn’t allow them to lay flat some got stuck to another one.

That didn’t stop my girls and hubby from eating them. They went for the normal ones first and hubby cut small pieces out of the stranger ones to try each one. Suffice it to say by the next morning there was none to bring to the salon (sorry ladies, next time).

Starting from the top left we have

  • The Homer ring dipped in strawberry flavored frosting and round sprinkles.
  • The Loop doughnut with vanilla frosting and Fruit Loops.
  • Triple Chocolate Penetration is a chocolate cake doughnut with chocolate frosting and Cocoa Puffs.
  • Sprinkle Cake is a plain cake doughnut with vanilla frosting and sprinkles.
  • Blueberry cake doughnut with a glaze.
  • Grape Ape doughnut with vanilla frosting, grape dust, and purple sprinkles. (I had to spit this one out. It was definitely grape I tasted)
  • Voodoo Bubble is a doughnut with vanilla frosting, bubble gum dust, and a piece of bubble gum. (didn’t even want to try this and I toss the gum away before the girls tried it)

The ones not shown were the normal ones

  • Raised Glaze
  • Chocolate Old Fashion
  • Portland Cream
  • Peanut Cake
  • Maple Bar (I think)

I have to say these are not my cup of tea and surprisingly my kids didn’t even want to eat some of the crazy ones.

Overall, they were fun to get for people but not worth the price. They do have other doughnuts that I think we would have like better but the staff picked out the doughnuts for us and each location will have a slightly different selection.
