I had passed by Brown Bear’s for several years but never stopped to try it. I was always in a rush, and whenever I actually had time, they were closed.
Time kept passing and still no hot dogs for me.
Then one day, after a quick meeting, my wife and I were looking for somewhere to have lunch. I’d been craving a good hot dog lately when suddenly the light above my head went off.
Brown Bear’s!

We Finally Made It
We pulled into the parking lot and grabbed a spot at one of the outdoor tables. There wasn’t any indoor seating, but the outdoor area was covered, so you didn’t have to worry about getting rained on or feeling the power of the Fresno sun cooking you while you ate.
I told the guy working there how long I’d been trying to make it in.
After all those years of driving past, I was finally getting my hot dog.
The Chicago Classic
I ordered the Chicago Classic, and I was not disappointed.
One bite brought back memories of when I was first introduced to a Chicago dog.
After waiting all those years to finally try Brown Bear’s, it lived up to the anticipation.
The place may have been small, but it had BIG flavor.
And Then There Were Nachos...
My wife ordered the nachos.
Man, those things didn’t stand a chance!
They were gone before I could even think about asking her for one. LOL.
Apparently, they were pretty good.
Would’ve been nice to know firsthand.

Brown Bear’s was one of those places I drove past over and over again thinking, One of these days I’m going to stop there.
I’m glad I finally did.
The Chicago Classic hit the spot, my wife’s nachos apparently didn’t survive long enough to share, and this little hot dog stand proved that a place didn’t have to be big to serve up some big flavor.
Unfortunately, Brown Bear’s has since permanently closed, so you can’t stop by and try it for yourself anymore.
But I’m glad we got the chance to finally eat there before it was gone.

So off we went. Drove into the parking, where they have outdoor seating (no indoor) but it’s covered so you won’t get rained on, or feel the power of the sun cooking you.
I talked to the guy letting him know how long I have been trying to come here to eat and finally made it. I ordered a Chicago classic, I was not disappointed. It brought back memories from when I was first introduced to the Chicago dog.

So I say to you if you are ever craving a good hotdog, Stop on by Brown Bears, but make sure it’s Monday thru Friday 10:00 am – 7:00 pm Sat 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. Located on the corner of Herndon and Fresno, next to Chili’s. Enjoy!
